Viki’s ability to imitate was first noticed in her play at an early age. This ability surely helped to foster some of Viki’s skills in other areas, as well, including her mechanical abilities.

In this clip, filmed at age 3, Viki sucessfully builds a block tower just like the one Cathy is making, copying her example step-by-step. She did very well when she could follow along or when she was asked to copy a small example, but when left to copy a large or complex finished model, she often became preoccupied with using all her blocks to make the tower as tall as possible, just as many children would.
