Through imitation, Viki was able to observe and try new tasks. Many times, she would then apply her new knowledge for both practical purposes and in play. The clip below demonstrates her ability to use a hand trowel to tunnel through a mound of sand. Notice her restraint, especially when compared to children at the age of 4. She used that same restraint when trying to tunnel through small mounds as well.
