MI-27: Viki smokes

Several clips demonstrate Viki smoking cigarettes. Here is one more. Clearly Viki is an accomplished smoker, even though she is still wearing diapers! Remember, at the time, most people did not realize the harmful effects of smoking. At least she had the decency to move over by the window!!! In any case, we know far more about the dangers of smoking now.

I learned that Viki was permitted to smoke as a way to help learn breath control. If Viki could control her breathing, the logic went, then she would have a better chance to learn to speak. As I said, the dangers of smoking were not appreciated at the time.
