MI-25: Viki smokes a cigarette

Hard to know what to say about this clip. Back in the late 1940’s and 1950’s, most people were unaware of the dangers associated with smoking cigarettes. The situation was not helped by tobacco advertisements, which often touted the “healthful” properties of smoking. Here we see Viki taking a few puffs from a cigarette held by Cathy Hayes. Although she is very young in this clip, it is evident that this is not Viki’s first time to sample the addictive delights of smoking: she doesn’t show the reflexive coughing that nearly everyone experiences when they try their first smoke. HINT: When you cough and feel funny, your body is trying to tell you something important. Pay attention!
